Star Trek: The Next Generation
Created by Gene Roddenberry, the first Star Trek spin-off ran for seven seasons from September 28, 1987 to May 23, 1994. There are 176 episodes, 2 of which are feature-length, and 4 films featuring the cast of The Next Generation.
Set roughly a century after The Original Series, the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets have ceased wartime hostilities and become allies, but the Romulans remain a threat and new foes include the Borg and the Cardassians. This series follows the adventures of the USS Enterprise-D under Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). The crew includes first officer Commander William Thomas Riker (Jonathan Frakes), helmsman and later chief engineer Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton), half-Betazoid Counselor Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), android Lieutenant Commander Data (Brent Spiner), Doctor Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) and her son, Wesley (Wil Wheaton), Doctor Katherine Pulaski (Diana Muldaur; season 2), chief security and tactical officer Lieutenant Tasha Yar (Denise Crosby; season 1), and her Klingon successor Lieutenant Worf (Michael Dorn).
