Summary: When the Enterprise is called to assist a colony world with a contaminated water supply, the crew meets a Zibalian named Kivas Fajo (Saul Rubinek), who one of the few traders of the rare medical compound capable of neutralizing the contamination. An obsessive collector, Fajo kidnaps Data and leads the crew to believe that he is destroyed in a shattlecraft accident.

After Data is presumed dead, La Forge returns Data's volume of the complete works of Shakespeare, which was a gift from Picard. The captain reads two lines from Act I, Scene II:
