Patrick Stewart
Patrick Stewart (July 13, 1940 - present), who played Captain Jean-Luc Picard on The Next Generation, has been called one of the greatest Shakespearean actors of his generation. He became a member of the Royal Shakespeare company in 1966, staying with them until 1982. He has appeared in roles like Prospero (in two productions of The Tempest), Othello, Antony, and Macbeth.
In 1969, Stewart briefly made an appearance as Horatio opposite Ian Richardson's Hamlet in a performance of the gravedigger scene as part of the sixth episode of Sir Kenneth Clark's Civilisation TV series.
