"Cogenitor"
The 22nd of the second season and the 48th overall, this episode aired on April 30, 2003. It was written by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga.
Summary: While studying a hypergiant star, the Enterprise NX-01makes first contact with the Vissians. Tucker learns that the Vissians have three sexes: male, female, and cogenitor. Cogenitors, who only make up about 3% of the Vissian population but are necessary for reproduction, are shipped from one couple to another and treated as second-class citizens. Tucker secretly befriends a cogenitor, who he is determined to help.

Vissian Captain Drennik is provided the play as an example of Earth literature. He later quotes Act I, Scene V: "There are more things in Heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
